What is the age range of children?
The children range anywhere from newborn to 21 years of age. In the majority of states, state-funded foster care or extended services, such as transitional living services, housing and educational assistance are not provided to youth beyond the age of 18. NC is one of 25 states that currently extends foster care beyond age 18, through the Fostering Connections Act:
N.C. Gen. Stat. § 108A-48
(a) The Department is authorized to establish a State Foster Care Benefits Program with appropriations by the General Assembly for the purpose of providing assistance to children who are placed in foster care facilities by county departments of social services in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Social Services Commission. Such appropriations, together with county contributions for this purpose, shall be expended to provide for the costs of keeping children in foster care facilities.
(c) The Department may continue to provide benefits pursuant to this section to an individual who has attained the age of 18 years and chosen to continue receiving foster care services until reaching 21 years of age if the individual is (i) completing secondary education or a program leading to an equivalent credential, (ii) enrolled in an institution that provides postsecondary or vocational education, (iii) participating in a program or activity designed to promote, or remove barriers to, employment, (iv) employed for at least 80 hours per month, or (v) incapable of completing the educational or employment requirements of this subsection due to a medical condition or disability.
Can I meet the children?
Privacy and safety are a big concern for foster children. Because of privacy laws and legal issues involved in placements to foster care and Group Homes, we do not share any of their pictures or information on our site or social media. Additionally, the children do not participate in any of our events as well. However, Staff from any of the facilities may join us at events and will be able to answer any questions you may have.
None of our team or volunteers are put in contact with the foster children. We have not met any of the kids ourselves and, instead, are satisfied to make a difference from a distance and know that we have helped.

How are donated items distributed?
Due to the rules, sensitivity and safety of the children, Fostering Faith Foundation will collect any needed items and donations and distribute them to our contacts within the group facilities. They in turn will ensure that the item(s) are provided to the correct foster child.
